As a wedding photographer I am there to witness my couple’s entire wedding day, from getting ready to getting ready to leave. One of my favorite parts is getting to see my couples before and after they see one another on their wedding day. Sometimes, after that first embrace, the relief and excitement is almost tangible. Mary Beth and Michael’s wedding day was one of those days I drove home thinking about how perfectly suited they are one another. They’re like two perfect puzzle pieces that fit together flawlessly to make a whole new pretty picture. While they were both so happy and cheerful before their first look, there’s just something about the energy they possess together that just so clearly makes them a perfect pair. Whatever kindness and cheerfulness they had before their first look only grew exponentially after their first look. It’s like the other’s mere presence is what each of them desired and needed most. Gah isn’t that so sweet and good?! Isn’t love so crazy? With all the pretty things in the world what we really need most is connection. 🙂

Speaking of pretty things though, I will say that this wedding was SO FUN to photograph. Mary Beth’s champagne details carried the prettiest whisper of a blush undertone which was so breathtaking. ALSO, THOSE EARRINGS GIRL. Sorry if I over documented those… I mean, they’re glamour goals for sure. But what really got me pumped up was getting to photograph these two gorgeous humans (and their crazy chemistry, which I’ve already told you is just the loveliest thing to witness) at Hotel Alessandra, the hotel where Mary Beth chose to get ready. I don’t often get to shoot deep in the city and watching these two bounce around on rooftop pool decks and across city cross-walks was my idea of a Saturday well spent! And I will say, made for some epic, one of a kind wedding portraits!

This day was just sweet. Mary Beth and Michael opted for a smaller, more intimate wedding ceremony and dinner reception at The Grove downtown, and knowing them and what they’re about, this was just perfect for them. Mary Beth is all about putting other people in the spotlight, and even on her wedding day I saw her do this countless times. I mean, I actually can’t recall the amount of times I turned around to find Mary Beth hugging Michael’s nieces and nephews, taking time to love on them and make them feel special on her wedding day. For these two, the perfect wedding day looked like getting ready at a favorite hotel, a private ceremony under bulb lights and the big branches of an old oak, and a family-dinner reception (with the prettiest, most unique cakes I’ve ever seen!) with just their closest friends and family, and as such, I felt so special getting to be there!

Mary Beth and Michael’s wedding day was just sweet and joyful. Congrats you two! Hope your first week of marriage is as lovely as your wedding day was!!
