Family Film from Reimer’s Ranch

It’s been a minute since I shared a personal blog post, and since I got some personal family film back recently, I thought I’d share! This film was from.. February maybe? It was just beginning to get warm and we took a family day to Reimer’s Ranch. Family for us definitely means we include the dogs (if I get my way), so this day was designed with their inclusion in mind. We started at Reimer’s for a long walk/romp and then grabbed some pizza and beer on the way home at Family Business Beer Co.

A while back my father in law, Sydney, gifted me with his Olympus OM-1 film camera. I was super intimidated at first, but after getting it restored, let me tell you – I love this camera. It’s so fun. It’s not a point and shoot – so you get to shoot manual – but the little light meter that you see when you look through the viewfinder is adorable and so accurate. It looks like how your gas meter looks in your car. Like a little arrow pointing up or down. It’s amazing to watch it sense light and tell me to under or over expose. And getting the film back.. ugh, so magical.

When I first got into film I grabbed a couple rolls and threw in this black and white roll, which was fun. But since I’ve started to include film for my clients on wedding days (just for a fun gift! no extra charge) I decided I’d like it all to be color and then I can edit it to black and white if I want. So that meant I happened to have an extra roll to just use on myself! It was fun to let myself just photograph whatever at Reimer’s and not worry how things would turn out. But I’ll say they turned out pretty cute!

I didn’t finish the family film roll at the park, so I shot the rest at home. (And I’ll also say – Davy gets more solo shots than Bowie because he’ll actually smile for me. When I turn a camera on Boo, he intentionally looks away, haha. So no Mom – I’m not favoring Little, he’s just a good poser. 🙂

Here’s a recent wedding that I shot film on the Olympus and and loved how it turned out!
