Lake Travis Engagement Session

Bailey told me they wanted organic and water for their engagement session. I’d recently done scouting for new spots around Austin because I like to keep things fresh. I love shooting in new places. A lot of times you might assume that the best photographers are the ones who have shot at a location like a venue or a park before (which there are benefits), but there’s nothing like brand new eyes to really inspire you. Shooting at a new venue for session location for the first time is always work I love forever. Those are the shoots you just never want to stop shooting.

So, the first time someplace new is always a benefit. (Brides, remember that when you ask your photographer if they’ve shot at your venue before – no can be a great answer!) Plus, if I haven’t shot at a venue or even a potential session location before, I always do a scouting trip to acclimate myself to the location and the light first. That way I can guarantee that my first time shooting a session or a wedding at a new place is going to be magic!

So given that this was my first time shooting at this location, I was exploding with inspiration! How could I not with these two, their giddy relationship, the colors of the location, and the light, man! It was a gorgeous day. But… it was so windy! Bailey and Chase handled the wind like champs and the photos where there is an obvious breeze turned out really dreamy and true to life.
