Ohhhh my heart. This engagement session gives me the feels! It was perfect weather, the perfect setting at Commons Ford Ranch, and Rachel and Peter are the perfect couple! How do I get so lucky with the people I get to work with? Honestly, I’m so blessed! I mean you know you’ve got a lovely bride when she messages you after the shoot to recommend moisturizers with SPF in them. I’m a newb at appropriate skin care (and with 30 fast approaching that’s not a great thing, haha) and Rachel is kindly guiding me into the right steps to protect my skin!

Rachel and Peter’s session occurred right as Texas decided to make a subtle transition into fall. It was so exciting driving to their shoot because temps were a liiiittle lower than they’d been days previous and having the windows down felt so refreshing and thrilling! You could just smell fall approaching. I think this was God’s gift to Rachel and Peter for their session! And I’m so glad that they wanted a real outdoorsy spot, because Commons Ford was MADE for them. I mean, y’all – it was made for you. We were able to get photos on the lake in addition to photos in gorgeous fields and along pretty paths. I mean I am seriously dead at their photos in that field of fluffy. Yeah, I have no idea what that stuff is, but it’s fluffy and the perfect color and it was glowing and it was insanely dreamy. Also, we shot their engagements in the morning, which I rarely do, and I have to say I’m now really in love with morning sessions! It was the happiest thing to start my day with Rachel and Peter… and their stinking adorable-ness, man! Like, seriously y’all are models for why getting married is so fun and exciting and why love is worth the fight and the wait!

I feel like Rachel and Peter’s relationship functions exactly now they treated their session. They had so much FUN together during this shoot, which made things so delightful and leads me to believe that they must have fun together regardless what they’re doing. But they were also so down for anything. They were super patient and so willing to accept the process for what it was. Engagement sessions have more to them than just the pretty photos you scroll through on a blog post (although you definitely have the pretty photos at the end of it). But there’s other stuff you have to deal with sometimes, too! Like you may have weird plants making your legs itchy, or dogs running into the background of your photos, or you may have to walk for a little while to get to the pretty spot you seek. Rachel and Peter’s session had all of this and more, and they took it with such joy and grace. I walked away feeling so grateful for their patience with the process and their attitude to willingly embrace the experience in it’s entirety. It made me think that they probably handle everything in life this way, which I say bodes pretty dang well, because just look how dreamy their photos turned out!!! You never know what life (or engagement sessions) will throw your way, but having a heart grounded in grace will certainly guide you to joy no matter what!

Rachel and Peter – thanks for sharing your joy and grace with me. I just love y’all relationship and how you handle life. The world will be a crazy great place with y’alls partnership in marriage (look out for these two Enneagram One’s – talk about a power couple!) and I’m so grateful that I get to be there to witness it!
