Hanging out with Taylor and Mitchell on Lake Travis felt less like an engagement session and more like stepping back into a day I’ve lived before—a fall afternoon that’s nostalgic, comfortable, and just easy in every way. It was the kind of day that settles into your memory without trying too hard, the kind you wish you could bottle up for later.
Fall color in Austin is rare, but the lake gave us everything we could’ve asked for. The trees along the shore were showing off, flashes of gold and orange against that deep, glassy water. As the sun dipped, streaks of light cut across the lake, turning everything warm and golden. It wasn’t staged, it wasn’t styled—it was just one of those evenings that feels good to be a part of.
We kept it simple: skipping rocks, pointing out favorite trees, kicking around in cowboy boots while a Yacht Rock playlist carried the mood. There was nothing fussy or overplanned, just time well spent. And honestly, that felt perfect for Taylor and Mitchell—two people who seem to know how to enjoy a moment without forcing it.
That’s the energy I love most: unhurried, playful, and drenched in color. By the time we wrapped up, I left feeling like I’d just been catching up with friends rather than “working,” which is always the best-case scenario.
And now, I’m even more excited for what’s next. This October, I get to photograph Taylor and Mitchell’s wedding on their family land, and I’ll be teaming up with Events by ASM to bring it all to life. If this day on the lake was any preview, I already know their wedding is going to be one for the books.
