Cotton Field Wedding Day for the Farmer’s Daughter

This one was special for so many reasons. First and foremost, Sam and Megan are literally the kindest, most joyful people ever. They are as fun and carefree and committed to a good time as they are intentional and faithful and serious about following Jesus every day. What could be a better combo?!

This was a wedding for a farmer’s daughter. Truly! Farming has been passed down for generations in Megan’s family, and the very cotton fields where they celebrated with family and friends (and bounced around in a bounce house) are the very cotton fields her forbearers took time and energy to cultivate. But Megan and Sam also wanted to get married at a church, so they looked no further than the church were, again, generations of Megan’s family members have been wed: First Baptist Navasota. Here’s where the story thickens, because when Kenton and I lived in Navasota, this is the very church we attended for almost three years of our early marriage. Turns out that so many of the people who opened their arms to us and made us feel so loved and welcomed are Megan’s family members. I will never forget the hugs that Megan’s grandfather, Thomas, would give me at church and they’d make me cry every time. Happy to report I got another one of those life-giving hugs at the wedding. 🙂 I owe so much to so many of those amazing people at that church, and as such it was truly a full circle and incredibly meaningful experience to photograph their daughter’s wedding.

This day was fast paced and went by in a blur of laughter and joy with a pink sunset over cotton fields bursting with white. I couldn’t have created a more perfect day for Megan and Sam if I had tried, from the perfect blush details down to the tractor exit!
