Let me begin by saying that since I became an Austin wedding photographer, shooting an intimate wedding ceremony on Lake Austin, with close friends and family only, has been a dream of mine for some time. On Melissa and Cam‘s wedding day I was able to see the dream realized! Why was this day so special? My own wedding to Kenton was just the same: nestled underneath Cottonwood trees, on the banks of Lake Austin, with skiers zooming past and beckoning their congratulations during the ceremony. It was absolutely perfect for us, and to get to document such a similar wedding day for the most incredible couple–Melissa and Cam–was beyond amazing for me! I felt so honored to be there and I’m just so in love with how their beautiful day unfolded.
The lovely thing is that while this wasn’t even their first plan–like so many couples in this season of dealing with the pandemic–all day everyone couldn’t help but marvel at how absolutely perfect “plan B” turned out to be. It was relaxed and joy-filled all the way to the brim, quite like Melissa and Cam themselves. Even though the pandemic made them pivot last minute and create this day almost from scratch, I truly could not have imagined a more fitting day for them, nor a happier one. From Melissa and Cam’s grateful, excited attitudes to their bridal party’s insane amount of happy energy, this wedding day was not lacking in joy, nor in beauty!
The entire day was spent outdoors, easy and breezy, and so well fitted to a summer day on the lake. When they had to last minute find another location for their wedding, Melissa and Cam had a kind family offer their beautiful home on Lake Austin. Melissa’s white and green florals were lush and such a sweet summery touch, while her light, flowy Watters wedding gown was perfect for a lakeside summer evening of laughter and champagne toasts under bulb lights. The couple said their vows with the rolling waves of Lake Austin cheering them on in the background (and a few passing boaters as well), after which guests enjoyed a leisurely cocktail hour on the lawn, which was replete with yard games. The bar was set up on the dock so everyone could grab a drink on the way to the pre-dinner dances, which happened on the second story of the boathouse with a serene view of the sun setting down the lake. The evening ended with a laughter filled, candle lit dinner at tables set up in the tree-lined backyard, where guests showered the couple with kind words, toasts, and even songs. Only after one last newly-weds-only private dance on the top of the boat dock and a cheerful sparkler exit (with some surprise silly string) did Melissa and Cam hop into their getaway car and drive off into marriage!
This was truly the most lovely intimate wedding ceremony on Lake Austin. Melissa and Cam are so deserving of such a dreamy, jubilant wedding day, and I’m so excited to share the images from their day on the blog! Congrats Melissa and Cam – your hype girl is always and ever on your side, and so excited to share your post with you!
